Canterbury Plains to Southern Lakes Cycle Tour (6 days)

This multi-day self guided adventure cycle tour cover the best of the South Island of New Zealand with the option for a longer, more challenging cycle!!

The tour takes the Eastern Scenic route from Christchurch to Queenstown . Hills and plains make for a fascinating journey through the eastern side of the 'main divide' (Southern Alps). You will see beautiful lakes, canals and mountains, staying in small country towns with fabulous New Zealand farm and home stays.

The Canterbury Plains to Southern Lakes Freedom Cycle Tour  begins in Christchurch and takes you to Queenstown.
Remember: WE CARRY YOUR LUGGAGE so no cycling day is too difficult!

Itinerary: 

DAYS 1-6 Christchurch - Queenstown

This journey begins with easy, flat cycling on the Canterbury Plains (for a warm up!) with some fantastic farmstays and homestays along the way.  Cyclists join the Inland Scenic Route, to take in the stunning scenery of MacKenzie Country, the brilliant blue of the hydro lakes and the distinctive peak of our highest mountain, Mt Cook (Aoraki).

Leaving the snow-capped mountains for the rolling hills, tussock and farmland of Omarama, a great place for gliding, the road winds up and over the Lindis Pass and down to follow the powerful Clutha River into Wanaka.  The views from the top of the Crown range to Queenstown and out over the Wakatipu basin are fantastic and so is the downhill bike ride.  Arrowtown is a beautiful old goldminers town and a nice setting for lunch but the ultimate destination, Queenstown is a mere bungy jump away!  

Meals:        You have a choice to stay in NZ homestay bed and breakfasts for a real kiwi experience, famous for their hospitality.
